Solar Lab Solar Lab

Discovery’s Solar Lab is a rooftop experimentation learning space equipped with both photoelectric and water energy systems, and a multi-touch Energy Dashboard, that allows students to interact with the school’s actual power and utilities systems. Manipulating these tools in real time, and witnessing first-hand the impact their calculations and corrections have on authentic working systems, students are able to authentically apply skills and utilize knowledge and problem solving to directly influence their school and their community.

The Discovery Solar Lab features both water and electrical systems that harness the sun’s energy.

Solar Lab
Our lab helps our students learn about our Net-Zero energy building, and overlooks one of the many large collections of solar panels on our roof.
Solar Lab
With a live multi-touch screen Energy Dashboard, students can interact with our building’s power and water systems in real time, and conduct experiments to learn more about green energy, electrical systems, and more.
Solar Lab
The lab is securely located on the second floor, with high walls, all enclosed systems, ample grounding, and a design that ensures our students are safe as well as able to learn and interact with this technology, which is here just for them.
