Throughout the year, I will create a stimulating and safe environment for each child to explore, discover and dream. Hands-on/minds-on activities will encourage each child to grow cognitively, emotionally and socially. Together we will share our love for learning!

Professional Background

I knew that I wanted to be a teacher at a young age! My mother and father were both teachers as well as my oldest brother. I graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a Bachelor’s degree in Child Development and my Elementary School Teaching Credential. After teaching 4th grade for two years, my husband and I packed our cars and headed across the United States to Virginia where I taught 3rd and 4th grade for 6 more years. I earned my Master’s Degree in Human Development from the University of Maryland, College Park. I have been working toward my Gifted Endorsement and have taken classes in Reading Instruction as well. As my own children have grown, I have enjoyed teaching Music Together classes the past 11 years and look forward to weaving music and movement throughout our classroom day. I am so excited to be here at Discovery!

Personal Interests

I very much enjoy spending time with my husband, 4 kids and Border Collie/Lab puppy. We love going to sporting events, taking long car trips and baking/eating desserts together. In my spare time, I like to create digital photo albums and slideshows!

Literary Connection

When I was a child I really enjoyed reading the entire Choose Your Own Adventure Series. I loved to make decisions throughout the story and couldn’t wait to see how my choices affected the ending of the story! I can’t wait to start this year’s adventure with all of my 3rd Grade Explorers here at Discovery!!
